Me sitting on the steps of the lower Terraces – the Shrine of the Báb is at the top of the picture. It was quite the sensation climbing and descending the steps of the Terraces. When I was descending, I couldn’t go down the stairs and look out at the view at the same time because I would get disoriented – the steps are steep! I had to look down at my feet as I was going down the steps, holding onto the railing for dear life, and wait until I reached a landing to look at the view, which was breathtaking particularly on a clear day and we had lots of those. I think I conquered my fear of heights! As for going up the steps, let’s just say I got a workout and a half!  Most importantly, it was a spiritual experience for me as I was close to one of the holiest spots on earth for the Bahá’ί community. I said my morning prayers a couple of times while descending the upper Terraces to go to the pilgrim reception centre (my hotel was a 2 minute walk from the top gate of the Terraces). Better view than on the bus!
